About Taylor

Taylor Ho is a respected leader and veteran coach in Northern California’s club volleyball community, bringing over 13 years of coaching and leadership experience to the launch of his newest venture — Tyrants Volleyball Club. With a proven record of developing high-level athletes and building successful programs, Taylor is focused on creating a club culture rooted in elite training, opportunity, and character.

• Played 8 years with Bay to Bay Volleyball Club and Pacific Rim Volleyball Academy as a Libero and Setter

• Helped lead teams to five top-5 finishes in the Open Division at Junior Nationals

• USA Volleyball Indoor High Performance (2010–2012):

Three-time Libero for the Youth National A1 Team

• USA Volleyball Beach High Performance (2013):

Bronze Medalist at High Performance World Championships

• International experience representing USA Volleyball

• Founded the first boys’ volleyball program at San Mateo High School during his junior year

• Collegiate athlete at Orange Coast College (Setter), then UC Davis (Opposite/Setter)

• Named Team MVP and NCCVL All-Conference First Team in both junior and senior seasons

Paolo Castillo, Co-Director/Founder

About Paolo

Paolo Castillo is a dedicated coach and leader with nearly 10 years of experience in Northern California’s volleyball scene. As the founder of Tyrants Volleyball Club, he is committed to creating an environment that prioritizes elite training, opportunity, and strong character. Paolo has a proven track record of leading teams to success and developing high-level athletes for collegiate competition. A Bay Area native, his lifelong love for volleyball drives his commitment to helping players reach their highest potential. Outside of coaching, Paolo works in biotech, contributing to advancing cancer research. He is a graduate of UC Davis and holds master’s degrees from both UC Berkeley and USC. He is excited to build a program that not only promotes the high-level technical development of its athletes but also fosters a strong, family-like club culture.

● Led the Boys 16-1s team to a 1st place finish at Far Westerns in the Open Division in 2024

● Led the 15-1s team to a 5th place finish at USAV Junior National Championship in 2023

● Led the 15-1s team to a silver medal at SoCal Cup in 2023

● Led the Boys 15-1s team to a silver medal at the NCVA Far Westerns Qualifier in 2023

● Led the Boys 14-1s team to a top 10 finish in NCVA Power League, earning a bid to USAV Nationals in 2022

Playing Career Highlights

● Multi-sport athlete throughout high school, earning MVP honors in both volleyball and water polo during junior and senior year

● Competed in club and school seasons for volleyball, water polo, and soccer

● Played as a libero for four years on the NCCVL UC Davis Men’s Team, finishing 2nd in the league

● Created the first club beach volleyball program at UC Davis, competing as part of the “2’s” pair

● Played on a local 9-man team called San Francisco Dragons, placing 4th at the National Championships in Oakland in 2022

● Competed with a local semi-professional VLA team from San Jose, playing alongside and against former Division 1 athletes

● Played on the UC Berkeley NCCVL Men’s Team as a libero/DS, finishing top 10 in the nation and 1st in the league
